Island 03:52
You've got a lot of problems, do you think that I can solve them? Do you think that I can swallow them somehow? We could move away to the coastline with an idea of a new life, with imagery of old board games and stories You'll never leave this island alone You'll never leave this island alone You'll do a lot of talking and I'll do a lot of listening and one day the records will come out of their sleeves, The one that has my name on the back and the one that has the secret track, and everything between the backdoor and the sea wall You'll never leave this island alone You'll never leave this island alone Right on top of the island there's a passage right through Right on top of the island Ahhhhhhh Really think it's an island you could come home too, you could warm to You'll never leave this island alone You've got a lot of problems, do you think that I can solve them? Do you think that I can swallow them somehow? We could move away to the coastline with an idea of a new life, with imagery of old board games and stories You'll never leave this island alone You'll never leave this island alone Right on top of the island there's a passage right through Right on top of the island Ahhhhhhh I really think that it's an island you could come home too, you could really warm to You'll never leave this island alone

Voices 03:10
All at sea with the fabric of living and no notion to ring the alarm, When her heart stopped giving there was someone to comfort her Voices singing, asking to make up her mind, And a flash of lightning that sets fire to the fabric and gives her a chance to survive Survive! In that tiny building, the steady pace of living The well worn trot to town, her picture sits up there on the bar room proud And there's voices singing asking to make up her mind And a flash of lightning that sets fire to the fabric and gives her a chance to survive So go on, go on, go on, in spite of the shortened slumber, She wakes and knows what part of the spell she's under The voices strong, they gather at pace, in number Her mouth is soft enough to pronounce her name And there's voices singing asking to make up her mind And a flash of lightning that sets fire to the fabric and gives her a chance to survive, survive, survive, in spite of it, ahhhhhhhhh

Stone Steps 03:31
Stone steps, fuzzy head On the boat early, heavy door, leaning in. White light, voices, harmony Overhead toy islands zoom out Faces in the sky, Boudicea walks on White light, voices, harmony White light, voices, harmony Leaving their houses and every duty behind They steadily gathered at the heart of the space Calling out, whirling hundreds of metres upwards The warm, the rich, the light as air tones The most beautiful sound I had ever heard

Didn't I Say 03:25
Boxes full of papers holding space Didn't I say? At the time I was lost and confused Down the coast on a beach in Spring time Blue and white tiles in hillside towns Sailors arrive missing part of the story Figures twirling, illuminated, mustard and gold There were good people, here to learn We were all good people, all here to learn Running through the gardens at night Didn't I say, at the time I was running away Sleeping to the strains of your guitar On the other side of the wall Smoke spilling up to the ceiling, pouring under the door There were good people, here to learn We were all good people, all here to learn

System 03:18
The road is on fire, think like a man The fire is in the stomach, think like a man The movement is below the palm of the hand Drives you to the airport, lifts off the land The road is in the distance little stick man Toss away your wristwatch tiny stick man Up against the nimbus flat is the land Rinsing out the atoms think like a man White and grey, very well, similar to, a system White and grey, very well, similar to, a system The road is on fire, think like a man The fire is in the stomach, think like a man The movement is below the palm of the hand Drives you to the airport, lifts off the land The road is in the distance little stick man Toss away your wristwatch tiny stick man White and grey, very well, similar to, a system White and grey, very well, similar to, a system I am very well, very well I am similar to other systems I am very well

When routine bites hard and ambitions are low And resentment rides high but emotions won't grow And we're changing our ways, taking different roads Love, love will tear us apart again Love, love will tear us apart again Why is the bedroom so cold turned away on your side? Is my timing that flawed, our respect run so dry? Yet there's still this appeal that we've kept through our lives Love, love will tear us apart again Love, love will tear us apart again Do you cry out in your sleep, all my failings exposed? Get a taste in my mouth as desperation takes hold Is it something so good just can't function no more? But love, love will tear us apart again Love, love will tear us apart again Love, love will tear us apart again Love, love will tear us apart again

Breathe 03:13
Pushing up through the ground, white and tender no sound Lying there all along, bright yellow song Hot honey ale to hold awhile Burning bright daytime fires, pure midnight farm skies If I breathe in, if I breathe out, I won't feel alone If I lift my head, if I share with you, I won't feel alone The rattle of pots and pans, the keen ringing of bells and chimes The shaking of hands Wake up the frozen ground! She brings the good spirit in And bears us all through the sound If I breathe in, if I breathe out, I won't feel alone If I lift my head, if I share with you, I won't feel alone If I breathe in and breathe out, I won't feel alone If I lift my head, if I share with you, I..

Let it go 03:36
If they ever see you, it will be too soon For you have switched it off and quietened every corner of this room Hail across the landscape and hail upon his house Everything is as it should be and everything's allowed And the weight of the fire And the wind on the roof And the dogs on the beach And the mist across the peaks And the feel of the land And the drink in your hand Let it go, let it go, let it go If they ever find you it will be too soon For this path was swept away by snow and undetected lies in ruin The only buzzing voices speak from the radio And in the dead of night you hear the ground shifting below And the weight of the fire And the wind on the roof And the dogs on the beach And the mist across the peaks And the feel of the land And the drink in your hand Let it go, let it go, let it go

Got to get up North by tomorrow Because I've seen the way that things are going I understand that you might not make it And I've got to tell you all the things I've thought of Like.... Cos' I'm driving the first time on the Silk Road And I get to your side just as the light goes I understand that you might not get out this time Cos' you keep hanging on, yeah you keep hanging on For this is the end of an era, a beginning of new life Got to get up North by tomorrow Because I've seen the way that things are going I understand that you might not make it And I've got to tell you all the things I've thought of Like.... For this is the end of an era, a beginning of new life This is the end of an era, it's the beginning of new life, beginning of new life, a beginning of a new time Make way for the new life

about

This is our debut album - an alluring indie-folk escape into another world.

It is a record whose songs were written over the last 10 years, dealing with everyday stories, hope, loss and the energies between life and death.

The album tracks constitute a raw and soothing note to self, woven with raw emotion, character, compassion and peace.

Lost Chimes recorded with long-term collaborator and engineer, the late John Hannon, (Understand, Liberez, No Recording) in Rayleigh, Essex.

John passed away on 5 May 2021 and will be sorely missed. He was a shining light, a friend, a story-teller, a gentle, funny, innovator - it is impossible and unbearable that he is not here. John transformed our vision of what we thought this collection of songs could be and encouraged us to try new things, performing his magic as he always did. We are so lucky that we and Rich and Tim (Hunt Us) got to spend so much time with you in the last 4 years especially.

RIP John. We dedicate this album to you and your legacy which is in all of our music and that of so many music-makers and music communities all over this world.
